Know your drywall.
At Soler Construction, we LOVE drywall! We’re not weird, we’re passionate. Here are some drywall basics if you’re debating a project:
There are different types of drywall: choose the right type for your needs. Standard drywall is common, but there are also moisture-resistant (for bathrooms and kitchens), fire-resistant (for safety areas), and soundproof options.
Installation and handling: proper installation is essential for smooth walls. Ensure you or your team uses the right tools and follow safety standards during the process. It’s a messy job and if you do it wrong it can set you back a significant amount of time and $$$.
Cost: prices vary based on material and complexity. When doing your budget, don’t forget to factor in additional costs like paint and finishes.
Finishing and sealing: after installation, seal joints with tape and joint compound for a smooth, durable surface. Proper finishing ensures a long-lasting result.
Maintenance and repairs: Drywall is low-maintenance but can be damaged by impact or moisture. Knowing how to fix small cracks and holes can save you time and money. Get a high quality spackle when fixing cracks and holes, you won’t regret the few extra dollars spent!
